As of October 1997, we
have three waiting lists:
The first is for persons 62 or older or on a social security
disability.
The second is near elderly which is persons 50 - 61 years
old.
The third for single persons 18 and older.
You
must also meet the income guidelines set by HUD. This
year they are $24,200 for a single person and $27,650 for a couple.
Rent is also based on the annual income received
from social security, SSI, pensions, or work and the interest earned
on your assets, such as savings accounts, CD's, life insurance, real
estate. Medical credits are given before determining the
monthly rent. A medical credit can be supplemental insurance,
prescription expenses, eyeglasses or hearing aids, and any expense
not covered by Medicare.
Once
credits are given the rent is 30% of the net income, or a minimum
rent of $50.00 and a flat rent of $335.00.
